Ongoing Programs United Way British Columbia delivers programs resources and supports to people in need across our province. We support healthy caring and inclusive communities by strengthening vital connections to help ensure the health and wellbeing of all British Columbians. Our 2023/24 ongoing programs include: • Children and Youth – We help children and youth succeed by supporting local and provincial programs and initiatives in early childhood development out-of-school time activities during the school year and in the summer youth leadership and post-secondary education living supports. • Seniors – We help older adults stay independent in their homes and active and engaged in their communities across British Columbia through Healthy Aging and Better at Home programs. Better at Home the Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors Social Prescribing and Family & Friend Caregiver Supports all expanded. • Food Security – United Way BC’s Food Security Initiative includes Regional Community Food Hubs Food Link by United Way BC and Food Infrastructure Grants which help British Columbians across the province access healthy nutritious and culturally preferable food as well the wrap-around supports they need. • Communities – We support people at the neighbourhood and community levels to help them connect with programs and resources they need and to create healthy inclusive and caring communities in the Lower Mainland Fraser Valley and Thompson Nicola Cariboo regions. • Emergency Response – We provided rapid-response support funding and supplies to communities affected by wildfires flooding and other natural disasters.

New programming for 2023/24 included the expansion of our existing efforts. • School’s Out and Future Leaders programming expanded to the Thompson Nicola Cariboo and Southern Interior regions. • Emergency Response Hi Neighbour in Recovery was introduced to support with social infrastructure and resilience in communities in the Thompson Nicola Cariboo and Southern Interior regions. • The CORE Canada Tech Corner was launched through Healthy Aging. This initiative supports agency staff and volunteers who help seniors in using technology to live independently in a digital world. • In the past year as part of our Food Security Initiative three new Food Hubs were added bringing our total number of Regional Community Food Hubs to 23. • Indigenous Priorities Healing and Capacity Building grants helped build relationships with First Nations and Indigenous communities across the province and support reconciliation.
