What it does — in its own words

Ongoing programs

To preserve and enhance water quality and habitat in the Cultus Lake watershed area for the benefit of aquatic and ecosystems. We continue to monitor lake health endangered species such as the Cultus Lake Pygmy Sculpin and Sockeye Salmon and general environmental health. We meet regularly and with various stakeholders to discuss and act on Invasive Fish Invasive Plants eutrophication goose overpopulation ecological threats etc.

New programs

Initiatives in 2024 included monitoring reporting to various government and participating in various events such as the Climate Fair Fishing Derby and Cultus Lake Day. We installed an air monitor at the Columbia Valley community hall and the Cultus Lake Community hall. We continued to intervene in the illegal dumping of waste material in the Columbia Valley south of lake and were successful to have the waste removed. We will continue working with the community school in regard to giving them the tools to monitor the water quality at the lake coordinating demonstration about bats and participating in pulling invasive species of plants in the local forests with the students. Working with DFO and Stewardship Centre of BC and Cultus Lake Park Board completed a demonstration greenshores salmon restoration project on the Cultus Lake shores helping with erosion prevention and water runoff.
