ADOPTION PROGRAM TOTAL APPLICATIONS FOR 2024: 120 TOTAL ADOPTIONS FOR 2024: 108 ASSISTED/INDIRECT ADOPTIONS FOR 2024: 1 PALLIATIVE CARE/FOREVER FOSTERS TAKEN IN 2024: 8 EVENTS/FUNDRAISING We were invited to participate in the Trenton Global Pet Food Show Us Your Heart Campaign in February. The JRTRO hosted six small fundraising events over the summer of 2024 including the annual signature fundraising event on June 1 2024 The Rescue Ruckus. These events were all hosted on the President’s property in Colborne. FOSTER PROGRAM NUMBER OF DOGS FOSTERED: 139 (including 9 palliative) - 117 adopted = 109 plus 8 carried fwd from 2023 - 6 deceased - 0 transferred - 21 remaining into 2025 (of these 11 will be foster fails) - 9 palliative (5 new in 2024) NUMBER OF DOGS FROM SHELTERS: 41 NUMBER OF DOGS FROM OHIO & KENTUCKY: 39 NUMBER OF DOGS FROM BARBADOS: 2 NUMBER OF RELINQUISHMENTS: 48 (3 were JRTRO returns) NUMBER OF NEW APPLICATIONS: 135 - 12 were declined; - 36 rescinded or on hold; - 66 adopted their foster dog. NUMBER OF EXISTING FOSTERS TO YEAR END: 22 The majority of our applications seem to come from along the Great Lakes mostly the Toronto London Guelph Cambridge areas although we are starting to get more from a bit further north and Ottawa areas have increased. Most applications are home owners either retired or close to retirement working from home the rest are condos and apartments dwellers. The majority of applicants at 55 years to 70 years of age. Most of our foster parents adopt as the adoption applicants are given the option of becoming fosters and mostly adopt their foster dogs thus we are always requiring new foster homes. This has continued into and throughout 2024 TRANSPORT PROGRAM The transport program continued to operate to pick up dogs from shelters and bring them to foster homes and to bring them from foster homes to adopters. We work closely now with Critter Cabs a volunteer organization dedicated exclusively to transporting dogs in rescue. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM JRTRO is a completely volunteer run organization we have no paid staff and rely entirely on volunteers for all of our programs. 2024 had 20 new applicants Total number of volunteers at year end 53. SOCIAL MEDIA We currently have 1953 total contacts and 1388 subscribers to our newsletter. MERCHANDISE We once again published a JRTRO calendar.
