Ongoing programs

On October 31 2022 Kiyooka Land Trust Foundation completed the acquisition of a property in Tête Jaune Cache BC. This property is being protected in perpetuity to preserve the environmental assets which include high quality valley bottom wetlands old growth riparian stands of coniferous and deciduous trees and habitat important for a number of endangered or threatened species. This acquisition was accomplished through hundreds of hours of volunteer contributions. This acquisition was accomplished through hundreds of hours of volunteer contributions. The property acquisition was also supported by private financial donations and a grant from the Natural Heritage Conservation Program/Land Trust Conservation Program funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada. A celebration event open to the public was hosted on the property in May 2023 which commemorated the preservation of the land and offered educational presentations on local bird fish and plant life as well as a presentation on the local human history. This event was supported by volunteer contributions.
