What it does — in its own words
Ongoing programs
We conducted all the Cultural East Indian Festivals and Hindu Cultural activities. We also celebrated Hindu traditions and Religious observances such as Sankranti Shiv Ratri Chaitra Navratri Guru Poornima Dusshera Devi Navratri Diwali Datta Jayanti Vaikunta Ekadasi etc. We continued with the Ganesha Utsav Procession festival in Downtown Calgary. The temple conducted spiritual discourses and streamed prayer rituals over the web. We also collected groceries for the Calgary Food Bank . We supported Composers Day program in collaboration with Alberta Cultural Talent Showcase (ACTS). We participated in the Hindu Heritage Month festivities for both Federal and Alberta Provincial level celebrations. We supported the Chesteremere Hindu Fest celebrations. We resumed in person classes for those interested in Vedic chanting. We offered a new arts grant(scholarship) 'Lalitha Arts Grant'.
New programs
We started few new community events supporting the East Indian Classical Music and Dance in support of the local artists. 1. Naada Aradhana Concert in April 2024 ( Candle light concert featuring musicians from both Edmonton and Calgary) 2. Natyanjali Dance Festival of Canada in July 2024 featured a collaboration of multiple dance forms - Kathak Odissi Bharatanatyam with a live music ensemble. 2. Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Festival of Canada in September 2024 3. During the Navrathri festival in October we organized 10 days of cultural events promoting East Indian classical Dance and Music
