Ongoing programs
Community Education & Outreach We offer free workshops and training for racialized women to provide culturally sensitive information and resources and opportunities for community engagement and participation. The workshop topics include issues facing racialized women in Canada—ranging from systemic discrimination (violence against women sex trafficking prostitution sexism) to racism women's health and reproductive rights employment and labour standards food insecurity housing and tenancy issues financial literacy and emerging issues that impact women. Community Education & Outreach We offer free workshops and training for racialized women to provide culturally sensitive information and resources and opportunities for community engagement and participation. The workshop topics include issues facing racialized women in Canada—ranging from systemic discrimination (violence against women sex trafficking prostitution sexism) to racism women's health and reproductive rights employment and labour standards food insecurity housing and tenancy issues financial literacy and emerging issues that impact women. To strengthen community outreach and enhance knowledge sharing to support referrals for Asian women we participate in Asian community forums fairs and stakeholder convening. - Women’s Peer Support Groups and Women’s Conversational Language Cafes We provide safe spaces for racialized women with priority for Asian women to connect share experiences and nurture mutual support. The women’s circles and women’s support groups are peer-led discussions that foster women’s personal and community connections/support and develop adaptive strategies to build resilience and solidarity. The language cafes help women in building confidence as they acquire and learn English and French by sharing experiences information and resources while making new friends in a welcoming space. - Celebrating Asian Women in the Arts Our arts initiative such as Asian Women Cinema uplifts the voices of Asian women. We collaborate with Asian women artists to showcase their work that celebrate cultural identity challenge stereotypes and broaden representation in the arts. Depending on space availability we accommodate young Asian women artists in the music genre to practice and hone their art. - Policy Engagement & Advocacy We contribute to research and public consultations on gender and racial equality by participating in consultations and collaborating with government bodies and equality-seeking women's groups. Our work informs policy development and advances systemic change through public education campaigns and grassroots strategies.
New programs
Single Mothers’ Nourishment Support Program (Mothers Table) We provide single mothers with meaningful hands-on support through our care package food program. By alleviating the daily pressures of meal preparation the program offers mothers the gift of time—time to unwind reconnect and create cherished dinner moments with their children. Each package provides nutritious staples culturally relevant ingredients and a message of care that physically nourish single mothers and their children and socially enhance mother and child/children relationships.
