The Terry Fox Research Institute ('TFRI') operates as a virtual institute bringing together multi-disciplinary teams of cancer researchers to work on integrated translational research projects. TFRI manages its research granting programs and projects based on milestone-driven business plans to enable discoveries to translate quickly into practical solutions for cancer patients. Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network - The Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres is a network driven by big data that will unite the top-tier cancer researchers and clinicians throughout Canada allowing them to share their data treatments and outcomes for each individual. This broader vision for data sharing and collaborative translational and clinical research will accelerate the implementation of precision cancer medicine in Canada. Digital Health Discovery Platform - is a pan-Canadian initiative focused on improving health outcomes for Canadians by bringing together health researchers artificial intelligence tools data scientists and other partners to advance precision medicine and personalized care in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. In addition TFRI provides grants to early-career cancer researchers through its New Investigator program and supports national collaborative cancer research projects through its Program Projects Grants and Translational Cancer Research programs.
New programs
TFRI expanded its grant support for cancer research trainees and early career scientists through co-funding of trainee and new investigator grant programs with other Canadian research partners and the launch of a new multi-year scientist grant called the Terry Fox Leader in Cancer Genome Science Award aimed at accelerating leading-edge oncology research and clinical translation knowledge in the area of cancer genome science.
