he Society presented two self funded events in 2024: - the first Fortissimo Victoria on the May long weekend in conjunction with the Victoria Highland Games. Apart from the local military bands the event featured the the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing Band United States Marine Corps and the University of Washington Huskies Drum Line. All the bands performed in the area on Sunday and then in the Victoria Day Parade on Monday (~30 000) and - the second the Bay Street Music Project in October a celebration of our musical heritage conceived in the style of a trade fair. The event opened the door for young people with musical interests to enter a world of musical possibilities they may not know exists. Band and ensemble performances occurred throughout the afternoon featuring both military and civilian bands providing an opportunity for the audience to listen to and meet members of: the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy; 5th (BC) Field Regiment Band; the Canadian Scottish Regiment Pipes and Drums; Chief and POs Band; Castle Cary Celtic Band; Cowichan Pipes and Drums and more (~500). NOTE: The figure in bracket is the number of people engaged/exposed. There were no ongoing charitable programs carried out this fiscal period.
