DA CAMERA SINGERS

Da Camera Singers is a chamber choir that performs music from various eras and genres. The choir produces or performs at least 3 public concerts each year. In past years we have been invited to perform as guests of Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Alberta Baroque Ensemble Pro Coro Canada and have collaborated and partnered with other community organizations (Edmonton Youth Choir i Coristi Chamber Choir Spiritus Chamber Choir) to present musical works for the public. In 2023-24 we worked with several local musicians and a children's choir to present 4 concerts. In May we worked with a guest conductor on a program celebrating sunshine seasons and stars. In November we collaborated with a saxophone musician on a Remembrance Day concert we invited a children's choir to assist us to present a family-friendly concert in December and in March we were pleased to present a program that was curated by our Accompanist that showcased the role of the pianist in choral music. We also organized several professional development workshops for the singers. In this year 36% of the music we performed was by Canadian composers and 59% was by living composers.

In the 2024-25 year we began with a concert featuring works by Canadian composers and were fortunate to have 3 of the composers talk with us about their pieces and assist us to prepare them. In the fall we will continue our concert presentations with a Remembrance Day concert featuring Faure's Requiem and a Requiem by a 20th century British composer. We will continue our season in March with a collaboration with a local singer/songwriter and bird enthusiast Mallory Chipman. In the fall we will continue our tradition of a weekend retreat for the choir to work on music and build relationships.
