Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto provides a range of family-centred services for families with a seriously ill or injured child while they receive medical care. Our programs include an 81-room House in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms located in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. Ronald McDonald House in downtown Toronto provides safe accommodation for up to 81 families each night. Families stay in private rooms or two-bedroom suites and have access to a wide range of services that support their physical emotional social and mental well-being. Our food program offers five nutritious meals each week and families can also prepare their own meals at any time using our fully equipped community kitchen and freely available pantry staples. RMHC Toronto also operates a private school recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education for children in kindergarten through grade 8 as well as offering tutoring for high school students and pre-school activities for toddlers. This allows children—whether they are patients or siblings—to continue their education and build friendships while remaining close to their families. During school breaks RMHC Toronto Camp provides children aged 4 to 17 with an opportunity to experience the fun and friendship of camp in a safe and supportive environment. The camp is accredited by the Ontario Camps Association and runs during summer March Break and PD Days to offer exceptional care and enrichment for children. Additionally we offer a variety of family activities designed to encourage play connection and physical activity for both children and adults. Each program is created to foster a sense of community and enhance overall well-being helping families feel belonging and less isolated as they navigate their child’s medical journey. RMHC Toronto also operates seven RMHC Family Rooms located within hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury including The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Trillium Health Partners Credit Valley Hospital Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital Scarborough Health Network and Health Sciences North. These Family Rooms provide caregivers with a peaceful space to rest and recharge just steps from their child’s bedside. Research shows that families who use these spaces experience improved sleep and better overall well-being while coping with the stress of caring for a seriously ill child.
