THE SOCIETY IS A MULTI-STAKEHOLDER SOCIETY THAT SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM ON VANCOUVER ISLAND. THE OVER-SRCHING GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO INCREASE THE PRODUCTION OF ISLAND-GROWN FOOD WHILE INCUBATING SOCIAL ENTERPRISES. ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT INCLUDE DEVELOPMENT OF INTENDED PROGRAMMING AND PARTICIPATING IN PUBLIC EVENTS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE THE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION OF LOCALLY GROWN FOODS. IN 2020 THE SOUTH ISLAND FOOD HUB WAS STARTED TO PURCHASE ISLAND-GROWN PRODUCE FROM SUPPLIERS AND SELLS SUBSIDIZED FOOD BOXES THROUGH VARIOUS COMMUNITY ORGANIZAT Show more
